We just held the national integration workshop from 13-14 November 2017 in Dhaka, Bangladesh, led by my colleague Hassan Mahtat and myself. This was funded by the National Curriculum and Textbook Board Bangladesh (NCTB) with a view to integrate Aflatoun’s social and financial education into their national curriculum, which is currently under review.
There were 54 participants attending the two-day workshop, including curriculum developers and members of the NCTB, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, the Ministry of Secondary and Higher Education, the Central Bank of Bangladesh, International and local NGOs (Plan International and BRAC).
The workshop was very productive and the NTCB will follow up with a needs assessment next year. The aim is that Bangladesh’s national curriculum will contain social and financial education in their education curriculum by 2019.
