Öğretmen Akademisi Vakfı-ÖRAV (Teachers Academy Foundation) was established in 2008 with a mission to protect children’s right to access quality education by supporting teachers’ professional and personal development. Operating in Türkiye, ÖRAV focuses on improving social and financial education to prepare students for the challenges of the modern world.
Our Partnership
In 2016, ÖRAV partnered up with Aflatoun International. Recognising the importance of equipping students with essential life skills, ÖRAV chose to collaborate with Aflatoun to develop teachers’ capabilities and provide students with education.
Goal of the Organisation
ÖRAV uses the Aflatoun curriculum to deliver high-quality social and financial education to students. ÖRAV aims to empower students by improving the quality of education through the professional and personal development of teachers. By focusing on social and financial education, ÖRAV strives to equip students in Türkiye with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for their future success.
Importance of Social and Financial Education
In a rapidly evolving world, ÖRAV recognises the significance of social and financial education, especially in developing countries like Türkiye. The organisation believes that enhancing these skills is crucial for preparing students to navigate the complexities of today and the challenges of the future.
Adapting to Change
Since 2016, ÖRAV has implemented the Aflatoun programme across Türkiye, reaching over 20,000 students and 2,000 teachers. Initially conducted face-to-face in selected pilot cities, ÖRAV demonstrated resilience and adaptability during the COVID-19 pandemic. The organisation successfully transitioned the programme to remote learning, ensuring its accessibility to a larger population.
Furthermore, ÖRAV actively participated in Aflatoun conferences, including two in the Netherlands, and supported the organisation of a Regional Meeting held in Istanbul in 2022. These engagements highlight ÖRAV’s commitment to staying updated on best practices and contributing to the global conversation on social and financial education.
