Aflatoun International – Child Social and Financial Education

Our curricula are child-centered and contain both social and financial themes.

Aflatoun International manages programmes that are based on four main curricula: Aflatot, Aflatoun, Aflateen and AflaYouth. Partners are encouraged to further adapt these, either to fit local circumstances or to complement their existing programmes. Regional and national versions of our curricula have been created in 45 languages and have been adapted to complement programmes on issues as diverse as girls’ empowerment, peacebuilding and disabled learners.

AFLATOT The early years of a child offer a unique opportunity to shape their development. In the Aflatot curriculum three to six year-olds gather the building blocks of social and financial literacy before they reach primary school. Much of what they know about saving, spending and using resources is based on their daily routine. Even […]

AFLATOUN Aflatoun’s core programme builds on a child’s natural curiosity and teaches them positive associations with themes as children’s rights, saving and enterprise. A key activity is the democratic formation of children’s clubs, which require children to work together, manage their savings and start small business and community improvement activities. Underlying the curriculum is the […]

AFLATEEN Aflateen, the programme targeting teenagers, plays an important role in addressing issues faced by young people today. It is crucial that they understand money and the markets that increasingly affect them as they become consumers, workers and producers. This greatly improves their opportunities for the future, as it prepares young people for a complex […]

Compared to boys, they often have limited access to education, knowledge, resources and skills leading to economic empowerment and advancement. For this reason, Aflatoun’s gender […]

AFLAYOUTH “Youth” is best understood as a period of transition from the dependence of childhood to adulthood’s independence and awareness of our interdependence as members of a community.
