Aflatoun International & Dubai Cares launch programme for adolescents in Mali, Niger and Togo

Posted in News on December 19, 2019

In collaboration with Dubai Cares, we held kick-off meetings in three countries this week: Mali, Niger and Togo.

The kick-off brought together key stakeholders in all three countries, including government high officials, civil society organisations and Aflatoun partners.

This is the first phase in a 3 year project that will reach 6000 adolescent girls & boys with our Aflateen+ curriculum and provides an opportunity to advocate for the right of social and financial education for young girls with the local authorities. The project aims to partner with and build the capacity of 21 organisations – ensuring that social and financial education for vulnerable girls and boys in these countries is sustainable and at scale.

The programme is also a timely contribution to the objectives of the regional financial inclusion strategy launched by the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO).

Aflateen+ offers social and financial education while addressing and discussing gender dynamics and equality. The programme utilizes student-centred learning methodologies and is adapted to meet local contexts.

A number of local organisations will be implementing the programme and a pool of local trainers will be trained in the first quarter of 2020.
