This November we celebrate the launch of a new Aflatoun country programme in Moldova. The Aflatoun family has now expanded to 28 countries!

It's the UNCRC's birthday!
November 2009 marks the 20th Anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. The convention is at the heart of Aflatoun's work, as Aflatoun bases its work on the UNCRC to help children understand and realize their rights through its programme.
This major milestone is being marked by numerous events across the globe. Aflatoun will be a panelist at the Commemoration Ceremony at UNICEF offices in New York. Aflatoun will also be speaking at the anniversary event in Egypt and attending the ceremony at the UNICEF offices in the Netherlands.

Aflatoun Launches in Moldova
Thanks to our partner, Children Communities Families, children in Moldova received their first Aflatoun classes late last month, with teachers and children greeting Aflatoun with much enthusiasm. Around 870 children aged 7 - 11 in three grade levels, 28 teachers and 5 trainers were involved in this project.
Aflatoun is now in 28 countries.

Aflatoun and Nickelodeon launch TV campaign in Latin America
Starting November 2nd through January 2009, a TV and web campaign will run across Nickelodeon's Latin America network. Spots feature Aflatoun the Fireball and Nickelodeon's Verdito promoting fun social and financial education messages for children. The campaign's creative development was realized with the financial support of Scotiabank's Bright Futures foundation.

The UNCRC - It's a Child's Right
The Aflatoun Talk section on children's rights reminds us all of one "Article" or Right quoted in child-friendly language from the United Nation's Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
November's article is Article 2 - "All children have these rights, no matter who they are, where they live, what their parents do, what language they speak, what their religion is, whether they are a boy or a girl, what their culture is, whether they have a disability, whether they are rich or poor. No child should be treated unfairly on any basis."
