Aflatoun Implemented in Three New Countries!

December is an exciting month as Aflatoun is introduced into schools in Burkina Faso, Indonesia and Palestine.

Aflatoun's partner in Burkina Faso, L' Association pour la Promotion Feminine de Gaoua (AFPG), launched its programme in 11 schools and is working with 1500 children. APFG is currently working on printing savings booklets for the Aflatoun Students. Meanwhile, in Indonesia, Aflatoun's partner, Learning Assistance Program for Islamic Schools (LAPIS), has been live since mid-November in 60 schools with an estimated 300-500 children in each school. Over in the Middle East, a pilot of the Aflatoun programme was launched in The Occupied Palestinian Territories by partner Community Development Society for Thought and Culture (CDSTC). The programme was introduced in a girls' school, leading activities and initiatives with over 700 girls and introducing a savings box inside the school.

Aflatoun is now in 31 countries

New Regional Master Trainers

Regional Trainings of Master Trainers have taken place in Africa (Uganda), Asia (Philippines), the Americas (Peru) and Europe (Ukraine). The trainings were a great success attended by over 50 participants who have already begun conducting their own trainings. Many thanks to all who took part for all their enthusiasm, dedication and commitment to bring Aflatoun to more children across the world.

Case Study of Aflatoun's Programme in Pakistan

A recent case study has been published, profiling the work of SAHIL, Aflatoun's partner in Pakistan, and their implementation of the Aflatoun Programme in Juvenile Detention Centres. The case outlines how the programme was introduced, and how the savings component was adapted to include savings of ' good deeds' rather than money.

Aflatoun Secretariat Receives Funding from Auridis

Many thanks to Auridis GmbH, who granted long-term funding for the Aflatoun Secretariat, and who made the Regional Master Trainings possible! Christian Meyn, CEO of Auridis GmbH, says "We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the worldwide dissemination of the Aflatoun Programme. The Aflatoun team is doing an outstanding job and demonstrates, in the most impressive way, how much can be achieved in a very short time when a great idea meets entrepreneurial spirit, sound management and a global vision of a better world for all."

Triodos Bank Customers Donate to Aflatoun

Triodos Foundation took it upon themselves to highlight the work of Aflatoun to Triodos Bank customers, and collected funds which they gave in the form of a generous present to the Aflatoun Secretariat. A big Thank You from Aflatoun!

The Aflatoun Network Talks

"Dear Aflatoun, How are you? I hope that you are fine. I am doing well in my studies. I have written this letter to tell you that we are happy for teaching us how to save. And I want to thank you for the good work you have been doing [throughout] the year"

The UNCRC - It's a Child's Right

The Aflatoun Talk section on children's rights reminds us all of one "Article" or Right quoted in child-friendly language from the United Nation's Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

December's article is Article 29 -"Your education should help you use and develop your talents and abilities. It should also help you learn to live peacefully, protect the environment and respect other people."

A final word of Thanks to new Aflatoun partner organizations!
